 COMMUNITY WATER GRANTS

Thanks to this Federal Government initiative, the photograph of Darcy and our old travelling sprinklers (reproduced courtesy of the Courier) can now go into the archives as the way things used to be.
Our old manually operated sprinkler system has been replaced by underground irrigation with timers and moisture sensors, meaning that the oval can be watered automatically after hours. In view of the current drought conditions and water restrictions, this grant came at just the right time for the school, meaning that we can comply with imposed restrictions without staff having to work out of hours.
The school has long been committed to environmental issues, and this irrigation system will enable us to reduce water consumption by an estimated 5,000,000 litres per year. This project will be monitored on a quarterly basis so that we have actual data on the water savings.
The Community Water Grant of $46,138.50 has made this entire project a reality.
