Birdwood Curriculum Development Sponsored by the Motor Accident Commission
Drama and Road Safety.
Drama provides some important opportunities for students to role-play the effects of a road crash.
Students can convey the scenario leading up to a crash, such as being
at a party, arguing with the "nominated driver" and having to find
another way to get home.
Their work can then convey the effects on family, emergency workers and victims.
A drama class could then perform these scenarios for other students,
perhaps during Pastoral Care sessions, with time for discussion
afterwards.
Senior Drama students can also play the roles of victims in the Mock
Crash. This also involves some work with costumes and make-up.
